TexLnt® Mobile Low Frequency Baffles
In today’s live music industry, audiences have exceedingly higher expectations for a show’s experience. Unfortunately, many venues are not fully adapted for live music performances. Complaints about the lack of sound quality and noise pollution are not unheard of, even with the best sound systems and engineers. Event permits are increasingly binding and restrictive dB(A) limitations have been introduced to satisfy surrounding neighbours.
Good sound quality depends on the sound system, the skills of the sound engineer and the acoustics of the venue. Although the latter can determine up to 50% of the sound quality, this factor is often underestimated.
A common solution is to hang drapes in the hall but this only solves problems in the mid- and high-frequency ranges. However, as modern music is highly rhythmically oriented, lower frequencies are a crucial factor in the level of disturbance and noise pollution.
Event Acoustics, experts in noise pollution management, isolation and acoustics, developed TexLnt® as a mobile solution to absorb booming low bass tones and reverberation.
TexLnt® is a modular low frequency baffle system inspired by the experience Event Acoustics acquired while adapting Ahoy, Rotterdam for the annual North Sea Jazz festival. Its name is derived from the use of environmentally friendly Dutch sheep’s wool and “Excellent” after the raving reviews it has received.
Several layers of wool and foil are processed into long drapes that are hung opposite a stage; increasing the absorption of bass tones under 100 Hz by over 7 times.
Van der Geer: “Sheep wool baffles have a number of handling and storage advantages over conventional acoustical materials and excellent acoustical properties in the sub- and low-frequency ranges, where ordinary drapes are ineffective.”

Besides absorbing low frequencies, XLNT TexLnt® meets all standard safety and handling requirements. Although wool is naturally flame retardant, the multi-layer woollen absorber is covered in Soundwool (class 1) cloth to maximize safety and minimize fire hazards. The Soundwool exterior is easy to clean and provides excellent protection against impact and transportation damage.
Mounting of the TexLnt® baffles is realized through mounting strips that enable the use of third party mounting equipment. Upon request, each section can be fitted with a mounting bar with rings or, for backdrops, a combination of zippers and Velcro strips.
Standard TexLnt® is black, has a width of 1 meter and comes in rolls of 2, 4 or 6 meters. Custom lengths or colours can be ordered upon request.
TexLnt® is available in a portable, modular, rentable format but can also be supplied for permanent installation.
Application:
Acoustics:
Improving the acoustics of reverberant venues like stadiums, exhibition centres and other venues for live music such as:
- Auditoriums
- Churches
- Music clubs and venues
Sound Isolation:
TexLnt® can be used to avoid unwanted lob shielding of sound systems and to constrain the opening angle of loudspeakers to prevent noise pollution.
The high density of TexLnt® baffles also makes them suitable as separation curtains for conferences.
